Digital Twin
Digital models have been a well-established standard in industry for a long time. They are used in product development (CAD), digital mockup (DMU, simulation), in production (CAM) or even in marketing (photorealistic rendering). The goal is to examine and analyze the product before it is even manufactured or used. The concept of the Digital Twin goes beyond being a digital image of a tangible object (product, manufacturing plant, factory) or an intangible object (business process) in the real world. It generally consists of the real object, its digital model and a link between these two worlds. The digital twin can provide benefits in all lifecycle phases.
