Heinz Nixdorf Institute
The Roots of UNITY
UNITY was founded by the Heinz Nixdorf Institution of the University of Paderborn in 1995. Its initiator was Prof. Jürgen Gausemeier, Professor of Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Systems Engineering at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute.
The Heinz Nixdorf Institution is a research center within the University of Paderborn and was founded in 1987. It is based on an initiative with the support of Heinz Nixdorf. It was his intention to merge research and practice to provide impulses for a positive development of the business location Germany. Nowadays, nine professors with 150 employees work at the Heinz Nixdorf Institution. The workspace that is led by Prof. Gausemeier includes the following research interests:
- Strategic Product-, Technology- and Business Planning
- Business Model Development
- Model Based Systems Engineering
Numerous UNITY employees are members of KOMMIT e.V., a non-profit association of former employees and students of the computer-integrated production area of the Heinz Nixdorf Institute. As an information network, KOMMIT e.V. promotes the exchange of experience among its members, stimulates the interaction between business and science and provides insights into well-known companies and possible career paths.
